What is Mole & Lesion Excision?

Mole and lesion excision is an in-office surgical procedure designed to completely remove distinct skin growths. This includes moles, skin tags, cysts, and other benign or potentially harmful lesions.
At Kigali Dermatology Center, our highly trained dermatologists thoroughly evaluate every spot before any procedure. This ensures that the removal method is perfectly suited to your skin type and prioritizes both your health and the best possible cosmetic outcome.

How does Mole & Lesion Excision work?

First, the area surrounding the mole or lesion is cleansed and numbed with a local anesthetic so you remain completely comfortable. The dermatologist then uses specialized surgical instruments to carefully cut away the growth.

Depending on the size and depth of the removed tissue, the small wound may be closed with a few fine stitches or left to heal naturally. If there are any medical concerns, the removed tissue is securely sent to a laboratory for microscopic examination and an accurate diagnosis.
